Historic Brookside Farms Country Inn, Orwell, Vermont
On the National Register of Historic Places, the Wilcox-Cutts House better known as "Brookside", dates from 1789-1843.
Shimmering white Ionic columns grace the front of this stately Greek Revival mansion, gleaming proudly from the center of its 300 acre estate. Brookside was designed and constructed in 1843 by famed architect James Lamb. Still a working farm with animals, maple syrup production, fruits, vegetables, herbs, and delicious fresh eggs daily. Meticulously restored and maintained, this unique showlace offers a subtle combination of yesterday's elegance with today's conveniences. The park-like grounds provide beautiful settings for family gatherings, weddings, or simply privacy, with spectacular views of the lush Vermont countryside and the Adirondacks. Miles of cross-country skiing/hiking trails traverse our open meadows and forests. Canoe and fish in our own lake. In the main house, guests have access to a 10,000 volume library, satelite television, game tables; and the Boesendorfer grand piano in the parlor begs you to play. Cheery fireplaces crackle as you enjoy full breakfast and five course, candle lit, gourmet dinners. The Korda family are your hosts, carring on the fifth generation of professional innkeeping; providing guests with legendary country hospitality.
