Kuenemann House Inn, Fredericksburg, Texas
Located but a five minute walk from the resstaurants, museums and shops, the Inn nestles in the quiet neighborhood above Baron's Creek among the earliest homes in Fredericksburg. The home consists of half-timber or fachwerk architecture constructed in 1847 and later additions of the Victorian style in the 1880s. Gingerbread decorated porches and tin ornamentation adorn the two story home. Meticulous care has been taken to duplicate the old woodwork and the original wallpaper. The interior woodwork has been returned to its original elegance. Wallpaper closely resembles the original patterns and is embellished by authentic Victorian ceiling paper. The home is furnished solely with antiques. The Texas Historical Commission designated the home a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. Each suite has a parlor with television, coffee maker, refrigerator and its separate bath. Each has its own temperature control. The Anna Catherine Room has television, coffee maker, its own temperature control and separate bath. Fresh flowers are placed in this room, each suite and are part of every morning's breakfast. Great elm trees shade the expansive lawn and garden. A fountain's murmer wafts across the adjacent veranda where breakfast is served. An afternoon glass of wine or beverage of choice is served in the shaded arbor. The National Trust for Historic Preservation awarded the Keunemann House second place in its national restoration competition.
